On Thursday 11th June fds Director Services hosted the second in a series of four networking events with a twist: ‘Empowerment through Colour and Style’ with special guest speaker Karina Leacock, Colour Analyst and Image Consultant for House of Colour. Karina shared knowledge and advice on how to overcome the so called ‘beauty paradox’.

For many women in business today, finding the right balance between beauty, practicality and ensuring they are taken seriously as business professionals, is becoming more challenging. Feeling confident in the work place has so much to do with feeling confident within yourself, so to help our fellow women in business achieve this we enlisted the skills of Karina.

As a leading image and award winning consultant with House of Colour, Karina explained and demonstrated how the effective use of Colour and Style can be applied to create influence, impact and executive presence in the workplace. The result is a more powerful, congruent, stylish personal brand, which ultimately results in more confidence and visibility.

This event was open to business women across the region and focused on offering a relaxed and informal atmosphere where guests could make some good business connections, get a professional insight and have fun.

“This event wasn’t just about getting the girls together to discuss beauty tips, it was about empowering business women in our region through the application of colour and style expertise” said Stephanie Osman, Marketing Director at fds, “It can be hard to strike the right balance at times and being able to access the sort of knowledge Karina has and apply that to daily business life was a great opportunity”.

Poonam Kaur the Managing Director at fds said: “I found the event really interesting, I didn’t realise there was so much science behind colour and style! Karina offered an insightful and engaging presentation, it’s exciting to try new ways to network with local business professionals and I’m looking forward to our next event”.

Event Feedback included:

“Powerful and energetic presentation, inspiring”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Empowerment through Colour and Style’ event held by FDS last week. It was a good opportunity to meet and network informally with other women in the city, whilst picking up some very useful style tips at the same time”

“What an inspired choice of host Karina Leacock was. I am sure we have all been inspired to at least look at our wardrobe more critically; woe betide any of us who wears black now in the future”

fds are hosting a range of unique networking events for the local business community, which we hope will make networking more enticing. Earlier this year we welcomed Justin Urquhart-Stewart who provided his thoughts on the North South Divide and before the year is out we will hold a chocolate and wine tasting evening and an event showcasing local seasonal produce.
